The International Diabetic Travelers Network is an entirely free online network connecting travelers with diabetes with local diabetes volunteers at their travel destination.
It has been created by Sweet Trip in 2017 and now counts with more than 600 volunteers at more than 50 destinations around the World. It works exclusively online. There are no intention to meet in person. The volunteers will help the travelers and answer their questions and worries about traveling with diabetes at their destination mostly via email conversations.
As an International Diabetes Volunteer, you will help out diabetic travelers who visit your country, by addressing their questions and worries about traveling with diabetes in your country.
When a diabetic traveler contacts us with a request of information about your country, we will put him/her in touch with you via email, and you will start a discussion and try to help him/her resolve his/her problems. Most of the time, it’s all about providing the traveler with local information such as:
Absolutely everyone! We do not filter volunteering application and welcome everyone who is willing to take part in this project. You do not need any particular skills to become an International Diabetes Network Volunteer, but the will to help others out.
Absolutely! The diabetic travelers network is an online network. All you need is a good internet connection to answer the traveler’s request via email! You can do it from home, or from anywhere you want.
It depends on you. There are no minimum hours to fill nor any time commitment to volunteering for the International Diabetic Travelers Network. Whenever we receive a request of information about your country, we will ask you if you’re willing to accept it or not. You will always be free to reject requests when you don’t have time to deal with them.
You only accept the requests that you want, whenever you want, and at your own pace.
When you accept a traveler’s request, you symbolically commit to help him resolve his doubts and questions. Depending on the traveler’s situation, and on your time availability, it can take you from as little as 10 minutes to several hours. Sweet Trip will always back you up and take over your volunteer tasks whenever you want to stop for whatever reason.
Diabetic Travelers Network Volunteers do NOT get any financial compensation for their work. Being a volunteer for diabetic travelers is and should be purely based on willingness to help others out.
Sweet Trip, as the organiser of the network is NOT making any financial income from the Network, which is free of use for any traveler. NO money is involved in the Diabetic Travelers Network.
